Privacy Policy for Network File Browser

Effective Date: October 26, 2023

Network File Browser (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.

1. Introduction

Network File Browser is designed as a productivity tool for managing files on local storage and network servers. We prioritize user privacy and operate with a strict local‑first approach.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal or sensitive user data.

  • No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.
  • No Usage Tracking: The app does not use analytics, tracking tools, or behavioral monitoring.
  • No Cloud Sync: File listings, server configurations, and settings remain stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

3. Permissions and Data Access

To provide core functionality, the app requires certain permissions:

  • All Files Access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Allows browsing, opening, copying, moving, and deleting files on your device.
  • Network Access (INTERNET): Enables connections to SMB, FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and other network servers, including media streaming.
  • Local Network Discovery: Allows scanning your Wi‑Fi network to detect available NAS or PC devices.

Important: All file operations — including transfers between local and network storage — occur directly between your device and the selected server. No data passes through our servers or any third‑party servers.

4. Data Storage

  • Server Credentials: If you save a network server (SMB/FTP/etc.), its username and password are stored securely on your device using Android’s internal storage (DataStore).
  • Temporary Files: When opening a network file (e.g., PDF, image), a temporary copy may be placed in the app’s cache. These files are automatically cleared when the app closes or when you manually clear the cache.

5. Third‑Party Services

The app may include links to external websites (e.g., “Buy Me a Coffee” or the developer’s website). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites.

6. Data Deletion

Because we do not collect or store user data on our servers, there is no account‑level data to delete.

You may remove all app‑related data at any time by:

  1. Deleting saved servers within the app.
  2. Clearing the app’s cache and data in Android Settings.
  3. Uninstalling the app.

If you have questions about your data, you may contact us at: naeem@url

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the “Effective Date” will be updated accordingly.
